Individual Investment Options Summary

 

Short descriptions of the different Individual Investment Options available in the NC 529 Plan are below. Click "Performance" for data provided and updated by each investment manager.

 
Aggressive Stock Fund (NCM Capital Management Group, Inc.)
Offers you the combined return of two solid stock portfolios, NCM Capital's Focused Equity Discipline and the Legg Mason Value Trust, with an emphasis on capital appreciation.

Balanced Fund (Managed by Wachovia Bank, N.A. through Evergreen Investment Management Company LLC.)
Offers a conservative balance between the investment characteristics of stocks and fixed-income securities, with the added feature of protection against inflation.

Dependable Income Fund (Managed by the North Carolina State Treasurer)
Provides you with a portfolio of income securities that is designed to produce a solid return with minimal risk of principal.

V Fund 1 (invests in Vanguard® LifeStrategy Growth Fund).
Seeks to provide capital appreciation and current income with an allocation of approximately 80% of the LifeStrategy Fund's assets in common stocks and 20% to bonds.

V Fund 2 (invests in Vanguard LifeStrategy Moderate Growth Fund).
Seeks to provide capital appreciation and a low to moderate level of current income with an allocation of approximately 60% of the LifeStrategy Fund's assets to common stocks and 40% to bonds.
